The Locality office is closed until advised otherwise. The neighbourhood planning team continue to work from home at full capacity and there will be no reduction in our services.
If there are any changes to how we will deliver technical support packages as a result of Government guidance and instruction, AECOM will advise you.
You can find the latest Government guidance on Coronavirus at gov.uk. We recommend that you consider the potential impacts of the guidance on your project planning.
View our advice page for more information about how COVID-19 may affect your neighbourhood plan.
Applying for Support
Before you apply for grant funding and/or technical support it is essential that you read our Neighbourhood Planning Grant & Technical Support Guidance Notes to help you through the process.
If you are applying for support to help you with preparing your neighbourhood development order to bring forward affordable housing for sale, then it is essential that you read ‘Bringing forward affordable homes for sale via a neighbourhood development order: ‘Grant and technical support guidance notes for neighbourhood development orders’.
Please note that the eligibility criteria is different than for previous programmes and it is essential that you check what support you are eligible to apply for.
How to apply for Grant Funding and/or Technical Support
Step one: Read the Guidance Notes
This will help you understand what you need to do to complete the process.
Once you’ve completed and submitted your Expression of Interest (EoI), a link to a personalised application will be sent to your email address within one working day. Please check your spam or junk mail if you have not received it.
Step three: Complete your application form
After submitting your EoI, you will receive a link to a personalised application form by email. Please complete your application form and submit it to Locality within 15 days. If you do not submit your application within 15 days, your link will expire and you will lose any progress that you have made on your application form.
Once an uncompleted application expires after 15 days we are unable to retrieve it, so please keep a record of all your responses. If your application does expire, you will need to complete another expression of interest, which will only take a few minutes. You will then be sent a link to a new application form.
Prepare your application answers in advance
To help you prepare your application questions in advance, you can download a blank copy of the application form as a word document.
Please note this is not your actual application form and you cannot submit this. This is to help you prepare answers to your questions in advance of submitting your actual application form.
There are three benefits to preparing your answers in the blank Word document: it prevents loss of data if you cannot submit within the 15 days; if the grant assessor has any questions once you have submitted (if you are applying for grant support), you can refer back to this; and it makes subsequent applications easier.
Step four: Assessing your application
If you are applying for grant funding only we will assess your grant within 15 working days (or 20 working days if applying for the neighbourhood development order housing grant) of receiving all the information we need to assess the application.
If you are applying for technical support you will be contacted by phone or email to arrange a diagnostic session to assess your support needs. All applications for technical support are presented to MHCLG to make a decision.
If your application has been successful, you will receive an email to let you know. This will include information on next steps so that you can start receiving your support.
