We’re at the referendum stage on our NHP in Harpenden (Herts). Our referendum is on 7th February. In speaking to people, distributing literature and posters etc to encourage people to turn out to vote we are discovering a persistent and very adverse reaction to anything saying “referendum”.

This is (obviously) because of Brexit and the associations of the word “referendum” with the Brexit Vote, possible second referendum etc. An independent shopkeeper who put up one of our posters said she had to take it down because it was “upsetting the old people”!

Just wondering if other people are at the same stage as us and encountering the same issue?

(For what it’s worth we were fairly strongly “Remain” as a place, about 68% from memory!)
